Col William of Greenbriar Lewis

William was born on November 17th, 1724 in Donegal Bay, Co. Donegal, Ireland. William's father was John pioneer Lewis and his mother was Margaret Lynn. His paternal grandparents were Andrew Lewis and Mary Calhoun; his maternal grandparents were William Lynn and Margaret Patton. He had five brothers and two sisters, named Samuel, Thomas, Andrew, Anne, Charles, Margaret Lynn and Alice. He was the fourth oldest of the eight children. He died about November 1811 in Brick House, Sweet Springs, Virginia.

- William Lewis, was the owner of thousands of acres of land in Greenbriar, and adjoining counties in Virginia.
