Stephen Fontaine Fountain

Stephen Fontaine was born about 1748. Stephen Fontaine's father was Col Peter Fountain and his mother was Elizabeth Louise Winston. His paternal grandparents were Rev Peter Fountain and Elizabeth Fourreau; his maternal grandparents were Col William Langloo Winston and Sarah Dabney. He had three brothers and two sisters, named John Smith, William, Edmund, Sarah and Mary Ann. He was the oldest of the six children. He died about 1810.

  As a resident of Surrey Co., NC, Stephen FOUNTAIN served as a patriot in the American Revolution, being paid for voucher # 75 as listed in Revolutionary Army accounts, Vol V, page 33, folio 1 at the NC division of Archives and Records, Raleigh, NC. The heading under which he was listed is, "An Account of Clothing, Currency and species Certificates sent to the Commisary at New York by the Comptroller of Public Accounts of the State of NC - May 1790".
