Josiah was born about 1755.  Josiah's father was Jacob Faris (Phariss Faris Farris) and his mother was Ruth Hayden (Hadden).  His maternal grandparents were Anthony Hayden (Hadden Haden, Hayden, Haydon, Haddon, Headen) and Margaret Douglas (Black Douglas POSS). He had a brother and three sisters, named John, Jane, Martha Patsy and Frances Frankey.  He is the oldest of the five children.
