Louisa Frances was born in February 1842.  Louisa Frances' father was David Frost Castleman and her mother was Frances Freeman.  Her paternal grandparents were Thomas Castleman and Hannah Bushrod Frost. She had a brother and two sisters, named Charlie T, Margaret J and Hannah.  She was the oldest of the four children. She had three half-brothers and four half-sisters, named William Henry, George Herbert, Thomas, Fannie, Carrie, Annie Newman and Janie.
