Archebald was born in 1784.  Archebald's father was Isham Alford and his mother was Anne Ferrell.  His paternal grandparents were Lodwick Alford and Rebecca Jackson Rebecker Ferrell; his maternal grandparents were John Bone Bowen Ferrell and Ann Fish. He had two brothers and a sister, named Brittain Washington, Bynum and Ann.  He was the second oldest of the four children. He had a half-brother and a half-sister, named Elizabeth and Jesse.  He died at the age of 81 in 1865.
