Alexandre was born on February 25th, 1802 in Doudeville, France. Alexandre's father was Jean Jacques MOGIS and his mother was Charlotte Marie-Francoise PETITON.  His paternal grandparents were Jacques MOGIS and Anne POUPINEL; his maternal grandparents were Michel PETITON and Geneviève RENARD. He had three brothers and a sister, named Harmand, Mathieu, Honoré Amroise and Françoise.  He was the second youngest of the five children.
