Houston William was born on January 14th, 1877 in Tyner, Hamilton County, Tennessee, USA.1 Houston William's father was Glassgow Varnell and his mother was Elizabeth Hughes. His maternal grandparents were William Brownlow Hughes and Delight Lassister. He had four brothers and four sisters, named William W., Glasco, James McDonald, Samuel Nelson, Adelaide, Margaret L., Mary Ellen and Detta. He was the second youngest of the nine children. He died at the age of 84 on January 12th, 1962 in Watsonville, Santa Cruz County, California, USA.
