George W was born in 1779 in Rowan County, North Carolina.1 George W's father was John Roberts and his mother was UNKNOWN Elizabeth. His paternal grandparents were John Roberts II and UNKNOWN Elizabeth. He had seven brothers and a sister, named John, Sr, James, Franky, Joshua, Jonathan, Pleasant B, Jeremiah and Patsy. He was the second youngest of the nine children.-
