Abinda Bess was born on January 5th, 1840 in Missouri. Abinda Bess' father was Meredith Jefferson NORMAN Sr. and her mother was Hannah Winn SINGLETON. Her paternal grandparents were Captain William NORMAN Sr. and Mary BROWNING. She had six brothers and eight sisters, named Albert J., William James, Meredith, Minor, Samuel Fleming, Andrew Jackson, Mary Ann, Ann Elizabeth, Louisa Jane, Sarah Frances, Emily Catherine, Mary Susan, Amanda Margaret and Canedeis. She was the sixth youngest of the fifteen children.-
