His maternal grandparents were Benjamin T [Sr @@] Thornton and Sarah E [@@] Upshaw. He had five brothers and three sisters, named James Jackson [@@], Benjamin Thornton [@@], Reuben Smith [@@], T W Harrison [@@], Dosier Calloway [@@], Mary Elizabeth [@@], Frances Jane [@@] and Emily Priscilla [@@]. He was the second youngest of the nine children. He died at the age of 77 on August 29th, 1922.-
