Frederick, known as Barbarossa, was born in 1122 in Waiblingen, Germany.1   Barbarossa's father was Duke of Swabia Frederick von Hohenstaufen II and his mother was Princess Judith of Bavaria.  His paternal grandparents were Duke of Swabia, Count Frederick von Hohenstaufen I and Princess of the Holy Roman Empire Agnes of Germany; his maternal grandparents were Duke Heinrich (Welf - Black) of Bavaria IX and Princess Ulfhide Billung (of Saxony). He had a half-brother and two half-sisters, named Konrad, Judith and Francoise.  He died  due to Drowned, 3rd Crusade at the age of 68 on June 10th, 1190 in River Calycandus, Cilicia.
