John E was born on July 24th, 1826 in Shenandoah Co, Virginia. John E's father was MEREDITH Foster and his mother was Margaret Boyer. His paternal grandparents were John Foster and Agnes Ward. He had five brothers and three sisters, named William B., Henry H, Abner M, Robert, Charles N, Mary Jane, Catherine Ann and Margaret Rachel. He was the third oldest of the nine children. He died at the age of 20 on June 13th, 1847 in Virginia, Cass, Illinois, United States.-
