James Elkin 
James was born on June 12th, 1819 in Green Co.,Kentucky. James' father was Abel Elkin and his mother was Mary (Polly) Skaggs. His maternal grandparents were William (Squire) Skaggs and Mary Simpson. He had two brothers and six sisters, named William Melton, Abel ,Jr., Rachel, Nancy, Betty, Polly, Diadema and Melvina. He was the fourth youngest of the nine children. He died at the age of 57 in September 1876 in Green Co.,Kentucky.-
