Charles Ewell Carter 
Charles was born in 1773 in Pittsylvania County, Virginia.1 Charles' father was George R. Carter and his mother was Frances Neale. His paternal grandparents were Thomas Carter Sr. and Sarah Haynie; his maternal grandparents were Daniel Neale and Ursula Presley. He had seven brothers and seven sisters, named George, John, Thompson, Presley, Levin, Richard, Spencer, Margaret, Sarah, Mary, Elizabeth, Betsy, Peggy and Sally. He was the third youngest of the fifteen children. He died at the age of 81 on May 3rd, 1854 in Grayson County, Kentucky. He was buried in 1854 in Hanging Rock Cemetery, Grayson County, Kentucky.2 1 General Notes
