Edward Carter 
Edward was born on April 9th, 1671 in Barford, Lancaster County, Virginia and his baptism took place on April 30th, 1671 in Christ Church Parish, Lancaster County, Virginia.1 2 His godfathers were John Carter, Edwn Conaway, Edw Dale and his godmothers were Diana Dale, Lettys Corbyn. Edward's father was Captain Thomas Carter and his mother was Katherine Dale. His paternal grandparents were William Anscell Carter and Mary Anne Emmery; his maternal grandparents were Edward Dale and Diana Skipwith. He had nine brothers and three sisters, named Thomas, John, Henry, Nicholas, William, Daniel, James, Peter, Joseph, Diana, Elizabeth and Katherine. He was the oldest of the thirteen children. He died at the age of 72 on September 30th, 1743 in Christ Church Parish, Lancaster County, Virginia. He was buried in 1743 in Lancaster County, Virginia.2 1 General Notes
Edward's birth is recorded in the Carter Prayer Book and his marriage to Elizabeth Thornton. Records show Edward on the 1696 tax list, when he paid for two persons. On March 2 1716, "Edward Carter of the Christ Church Parish Gent" and wife Elizabeth sold land to John Rhodes. In 1721 he witnessed the will of brother Peter, and in 1733 that of brother Henry. In 1694 Edward was the executor of his Grandfather Dale.
Records state that Edward died intestate.
