Katherine was born about 1523. Katherine's father was William COURTENAY and her mother was Mary GAINSFORD. Her paternal grandparents were William COURTENAY and Cecily CHENEY. She had four brothers and two sisters, named Philip, John, James, Thomas, Gertrude and Elizabeth. She was the third oldest of the seven children. She had five half-brothers named George, Peter, Henry, Nicholas and Anthony.-
