John William Ashwell 
John William was born on November 9th, 1873 in Bedford Co, Va. John William's father was Carey Austin Ashwell and his mother was Frances West Howell. His paternal grandparents were James "Meredith" ("Meredith") Ashwell and Sarah "Sally" Jane Ellis. He had six brothers and three sisters, named Daniel L., Silas Pleasant, Robert Austin, Alexander Austin, Aubrey, "Infant son", Victoria Catherine, Mary Matilda and Sophia Jane. He was the fifth oldest of the ten children. He died at the age of 77 in 1950 in Staunton, Bedford Co, Va. He was buried in Staunton, Bedford Co, Va.General Notes
