An obituary for Rufus was in "The Lamar County Echo" March 19,1981. It reads as follows:
Rufus T. "Pick" Anderson, 95, of Cherry Street Annex Nursing Home, died March 15, 1981, in a local hospital. Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon, March 17, in Grant Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. L.C. Stout officiating. Burial was in Highland Cemetery in Deport.
Mr. Anderson was born in Clardy on Nov. 21, 1885, son of R.C.Anderson and Flora Dudley Anderson. He married Tina Mae Essary in Shady Grove on Aug. 14, 1906. He was a member of the Clardy Baptist Church and a retired constable of Precinct 7 where he served for 40 years.
Surviving are three sons, Roy Anderson of Clardy, Euless Anderson of Paris, and Billy Joe Anderson of Dallas; three daughters, Mrs. Velma Floyd of Dallas, Mrs. Gladys Hadley of Canton, and Mrs. Virginia Ragsdill of Allen; one brother, Jess Anderson of Paris; 20 grandchildren; 29 greatgrandchildren, and four great-great grandchildren.
