Margaret was born on August 19th, 1831 in Aurelius, Cayuga, NY.1 Margaret's father was Luther Van Giesen and her mother was Melinda Slayton. Her maternal grandparents were Phineas Slayton and Experience Gleeson. She had three brothers and a sister, named Montgomery, Martin Luther, James and Catherine C.. She was the second oldest of the five children.1 -
