James Van Giesen 
James was born on September 2nd, 1839 in Aurelius, Cayuga, NY.1 James' father was Luther Van Giesen and his mother was Melinda Slayton. His maternal grandparents were Phineas Slayton and Experience Gleeson. He had two brothers and two sisters, named Montgomery, Martin Luther, Catherine C. and Margaret. He was the youngest of the five children.1 -
