Gottfried von Leiningen

Gottfried was born about 1276 in Neu-Leiningen, Pfalz, Bavaria, Germany.  Gottfried's father was Friedrich IV von Leiningen and his mother was Johanne of Sponheim-Kreuznach.  His paternal grandparents are Friedrich III von Leiningen and Adelheid of Habsburg; his maternal grandparents are Simon I of Sponheim and Margarethe von Hengebach. He had two brothers and three sisters, named Friedrich V of, Emich, Ferriata of, Mathilde of and Agnes of.  He is the second youngest of the six children.
