His paternal grandparents are John Sandilands and Christian Dundas; his maternal grandfather was Andrew Ker and his maternal grandmother is Margaret Tweedie. He had two brothers and two sisters, named James, Peter, ? and Mary. He was the oldest of the five children. He died before February 13th, 1493 in Scotland.General Notes
