Floris De Avesnes

Floris was born in 1255 in Valenciennes, Nord, France.  Floris' father was Jean I De Avesnes and his mother was Aleida of Holland.  His paternal grandparents are Bouchard De Avesnes and Marguerite De Hainault; his maternal grandparents are Floris IV of Holland and Mathilde Brabant. He had five brothers and a sister, named Jean II, Baudouin, Bouchard, Guy, Guillaume and Jeanne.  He was the second youngest of the seven children.  He died at the age of 42 on January 23rd, 1297.
