Elizabeth Ann was born on December 26th, 1891 in Gravity, Taylor, IA. Elizabeth Ann's father was Israel Samuel Straw and her mother was Emmeline Mahala Gartrell. Her paternal grandfather was Cyrus Griffith Straw and her paternal grandmother is Sally Mae Sterns. She had six brothers and seven sisters, named William Cyrus, Verne Gilbert, Benjamin Franklin, Ira Irlie, Daniel, Jess, Bessie, Katherine Olive, Ida Ellen, Ina Pearl, Bessy King, Ethel A and Mary.
