Bessie was born on May 10th, 1890 in Gravity, Taylor, IA. Bessie's father was Israel Samuel Straw and her mother was Emmeline Mahala Gartrell. Her paternal grandfather was Cyrus Griffith Straw and her paternal grandmother is Sally Mae Sterns. She had six brothers and seven sisters, named William Cyrus, Verne Gilbert, Benjamin Franklin, Ira Irlie, Daniel, Jess, Elizabeth Ann, Katherine Olive, Ida Ellen, Ina Pearl, Bessy King, Ethel A and Mary. She died at the age of 58 on January 30th, 1949.General Notes
