His paternal grandparents were Jr. Morgan David and Polly Andres Colby. He had four brothers and five sisters, named Henry Lorange, Jesse Frances, Millard Landis, Horace Harold Parker, Helen A., Theresa J., Emily A., Eugenia Esmah and Rufina.
