Emma Viola was born on October 26th, 1866 in Cheshire, Allegan, Michigan. Emma Viola's father was Daniel Collins and her mother was Sarah Grove Palmer. Her paternal grandfather is Daniel Collins; her maternal grandfather is Amos Palmer and her maternal grandmother was Martha. She has three brothers and three sisters, named Amos Gilbert, Marion Standish, Alton Daniel, Amenia, Clara Mariah and Ada S. She is the youngest of the seven children. She has a half-brother and four half-sisters, named Ola Warren, Bessie, Nettie S, Naoma Augusta and Ruby Hazel.-
