Alton Daniel was born on October 28th, 1864 in Bloomingdale, Michigan. Alton Daniel's father was Daniel Collins and his mother was Sarah Grove Palmer. His paternal grandfather is Daniel Collins; his maternal grandfather is Amos Palmer and his maternal grandmother was Martha. He has two brothers and four sisters, named Amos Gilbert, Marion Standish, Amenia, Clara Mariah, Ada S and Emma Viola. He is the second youngest of the seven children. He has a half-brother and four half-sisters, named Ola Warren, Bessie, Nettie S, Naoma Augusta and Ruby Hazel.-
