Caroline was born in 1842. Caroline's father was Jeremiah York and her mother was Margaret Donelson or Dollison?. Her paternal grandparents were Seymour (Semore) York and Meriam Beck; her maternal grandparents were William Donaldson and Unknown. She had six brothers and two sisters, named Reverend, John Marion, Joseph Bowens, Elisha Newton, Martin Van Buren, Cicero C., Adeline and Mary Margaret. She was the second youngest of the nine children. She had a half-brother and a half-sister, named John L. and Margaret.-
