Isabel Matilda was born about 1278 in Kildrummy Castle, Kildrummy, Aberdeenshire, Scotland. Isabel Matilda's father was Donald of Mar and her mother was Helen Verch Llewellyn. Her paternal grandparents were William Macgylocher of Mar and Elizabeth Comyn; her maternal grandparents were Llewelyn ap Iorwerth and Joan of England. She had three brothers and two sisters, named Gartnet (Gartney) Macglylocher of, Duncan of, Alexander of, Marjory of and Mary of. She was the second youngest of the six children. She had a half-sister named Hawise. She died about 1320.-
