Gilbert FitzGilbert, known as "Strongbow", was born on September 21st, 1100 in Tunbridge, Kent, England.  "Strongbow"'s father was Earl Gilbert FitzRichard de Clare I of Hertford and his mother was Alice de Claremont.  His paternal grandparents were Earl Richard FitzGilbert de Clare and Rohese Giffard; his maternal grandparents were Count Hugh de Creil de Clermont and Margaret de Roucy. He had three brothers and five sisters, named Richard FitzGilbert, Baldwin FitzGilbert, Hervey, Agnes, Alice, Margaret, Hawise and Rohesia FitzGilbert. He had a half-brother named John.  He died at the age of 76 on January 6th, 1177 in England.  He was buried in Tintern Abbey, Chapel Hill, Monmouthshire, England.


"Strongbow"'s family with Isabel de Beaumont

‌"Strongbow" and Isabel were married in a religious ceremony before 1130.  They had a son and a daughter, named "Strongbow" and Basilia.
