Mary E. was born on May 6th, 1852. Mary E.'s father was Robert Forbes and her mother was Malinda Phebe Branstetter. Her paternal grandparents were John Forbes and Mary Polly Hines; her maternal grandfather was Henry Branstetter and her maternal grandmother is Elizabeth Craig. She had three brothers and five sisters, named John Henry, Eli Green, Robert, Emiline Polly, Phebe, Emaline, Charlotte and Martha Jane. She is the fifth oldest of the nine children.-
