John Marshall's father is Andrew Jackson Murray and his mother was Sarah Ann Elizabeth Goolsby. He had a brother and three sisters, named George Floyd, Louisa Rebecca, Rosetta Evangiline and Mary Elizabeth. He has five half-brothers and a half-sister, named Andrew Jefferson, Barnes Hardy, Curtis Brown, Henry Marcus, Roland Arvil and Ruby Willa.
