William E. was born in 1841 in Vermilion Co.,Illinois. William E.'s father was Enoch N. Snider and his mother was Martha Ann Lewman. His paternal grandparents were John Snider and Prudence Unknown. He had two sisters named Mary Jane and Elizabeth Ellen. He was the youngest of the three children. He had three half-brothers and four half-sisters, named Thomas R., John Charles, James W., Sarah Isabel, Nancy M., Rebecca C. and Martha A.. He died at the age of 49 in 1890.-
