Susannah was born in 1788. Susannah's father was John ,Jr. Skaggs and her mother was Catherine Hicks. Her paternal grandfather was John Skaggs and her paternal grandmother is Ruth Bishop. She had four brothers and two sisters, named Zachariah, Charles, Richard, John ,3rd, Rebecca and Lucretia. She is the oldest of the seven children. She had four half-brothers and a half-sister, named Joseph, James, Richard, John ,3rd and Mary.-
