Emory Clifton's father was George Washington McCoy and his mother was Margaret Keahey. His maternal grandparents were John Robert Jackson Keahey and Martha Slay. He had seven brothers and four sisters, named Malenius Homer, Benjamin, Joseph, A. Mont, Zebulon, John Herschel, George Washington ,Jr., Martha Zuleka, Lillian Bonnie, M.
