Margaret was born in 1831 in Dale Co.,Alabama.  Margaret's father is William Keahey and her mother is Mary McInnis.  Her paternal grandfather was George Keahey and her paternal grandmother is Sarah McFarland. She had five brothers and three sisters, named George W., John Samuel, Miles, James D., William Greene, Nancy Emaline, Martha and Sarah.  She is the second oldest of the nine children.
