Jesse was born in 1794 in Wilkes County,NC. Jesse's father was John Gilreath and his mother was Johannah Jones. His paternal grandparents were William Gilreath and Mary Arrington. He had three brothers and three sisters, named William Barton, Benjamin Jones, Gideon, Nancy, Mary Susanna and Sarah. He was the second youngest of the seven children. He died about 1825.-
