William III was born in Alnwick, Northumberland, England.  William III's father was Alan (Algernon) de Percy and his mother was Emma de Gaunt.  His paternal grandparents were William de Percy and Emma de Port; his maternal grandfather was Gilbert de Gant and his maternal grandmother is Alice de Montfort-sur-Risle. He had seven brothers named Henry de Percy of, Geoffrey, Walter de Rugemond, Gosfrid, Richard, Robert and Alan le Meschin.  He died in 1175 in Topcliffe.  He was buried in 1175 in Fountains Abbey, England.


William III's first family with Alice de Tonbridge de Clare

‌William III and Alice de Tonbridge were married in a religious ceremony before 1134.  They had a son and two daughters, named Alan, Agnes and Maud.


William III's second family with Sibyl de Valognes

‌William III and Sibyl were married in a religious ceremony about 1166.  They had two sons and two daughters, named Walter, William, Alice and Emma.
