Roger was born about 1158 in Wigmore, Herefordshire, England.  Roger's father was Hugh de Mortimer and his mother was Maud le Meschines.  His paternal grandfather was Ralph de Mortimer of Wigmore and his paternal grandmother is Melisenda of Mers; his maternal grandparents were William le Meschines and Cecily de Rumilly. He had two brothers named Hugh and Philip.  He was the youngest of the three children. He had a half-sister named Adelicia.  He died on June 24th, 1214 in Wigmore, Hereford, England.


Roger's first family with Isabel de Ferrers

‌Roger and Isabel were married in a religious ceremony before 1190.  They had two sons named Robert and Philip.


Roger's second family with Millicent de Ferrers

‌Roger and Millicent were married in a religious ceremony after 1190.  They had three sons and a daughter, named Ralph, Roger, Hugh de Mortimer of and Joane.
