Raoul I was born about 1164 in La Marche, Poictou, France.  Raoul I's father was Hugh VIII le Brun de Lusignan and his mother was Bourgogne de Rancon.  His paternal grandparents were Hugh VII le Brun de Lusignan de la Marche and UNKNOWN Sarrazaine; his maternal grandfather was Geoffrey de Rancon. He had two brothers named Almeric and Hugh IX de Lusignan.  He was the oldest of the three children.  He died on May 1st, 1219 in Shenton, Leicestershire, England.  He was buried in Fontblanche Priory, Exoudun.


Raoul I's family with Alice de Eu de Hastings

‌Raoul I and Alice de Eu were married in a religious ceremony about 1191.  They had two sons and two daughters, named Guarin, Raoul III d'Exoudun, Jehanne and Maud de Lusignan.
