Bernard I was born in LaMarche, Normandy, France. Bernard I's father was Adalbert I de la Haute Marche and his mother was Almode de Limoges. His paternal grandfather was Boso I de la Marche and his paternal grandmother is Emma de Perigord; his maternal grandparents were Geraud de Limoges and Rothilde de Brosse. He was an only child. He died before July 16th, 1047.-
