Ethel Irene was born on July 29th, 1903 in Washington, Tazewell County, Illinois. Ethel Irene's father was Albert Clarence Shaffer and her mother was Elizabeth Caroline Thielbar. Her paternal grandparents were Lewis Madden Shaffer and Sarah Ellen Walden; her maternal grandparents were William Henry Thielbar and Wilhelmina Lohmeyer. She had four sisters named Ida Lucille, Alma Leona, Helen Mildred and Daughter. She was the oldest of the five children. She died at the age of 82 on December 26th, 1985 in Eureka, Woodford County, Illinois. She was buried in Glendale Cemetery, Washington Township, Tazewell County, Illinois.-
