Hedwiga of was born about 0922 in Saxony, Germany.  Hedwiga of's father was Henry I the Fowler of Germany and her mother was Mathilda (Mechtilde) of Ringleheim.  Her paternal grandparents were Otto the Illustrious of Saxony and Hedwige of Bavaria; her maternal grandparents were Dietrich (Theoderich) of Ringelheim and Reginhilde von Friesland. She had three brothers and a sister, named Henry I the Quarrelsome of, Bruno (St.) the Great of, Otto I the Great of and Gerberga Auceps of. She had a half-brother named Thangmar of.  She died in Aix-la-Chapelle (Aachen).
