Gerberge of Hainault and's father was Giselbert of Lorraine and her mother was Gerberga Auceps of Saxony. Her paternal grandparents were Regnier I Longhals of Hainault and Albrada of Mons; her maternal grandparents were Henry I the Fowler of Germany and Mathilda (Mechtilde) of Ringleheim. She had a brother and two sisters, named Henri, Alberade (Aubree) of and Biltrude. She had two half-brothers and two half-sisters, named Lothar V of, Charles of, Hildegarde and Matilda.
