Johan Philip was born on May 30th, 1783 in Macungie Township, Lehigh County, Pennsylvania. Johan Philip's father was Conrad Knappenberger and his mother was Eva Barbara Scherer. His paternal grandparents were Johan Michael Knappenberger and Catherina Heilig. He had four brothers and four sisters, named Heinrich, Johannes, Johannes, Conrad, Anna Barbara, Catharina, Solome and Elisabetha. He died at the age of 84 on October 19th, 1867 in Tuscarawas County, Ohio.-
