Edgifu of was born in Wessex, England.  Edgifu of's father was Edward the Elder of England and her mother was Aelfaeda of Wiltshire.  Her paternal grandparents were Alfred the Great of England and Eahlswith of the Gaini; her maternal grandparents were Aethelhelm of Wiltshire and Aethelgyth (Elswitha) of Risborough. She had three brothers and six sisters, named Aelfweard of, Aethelhild of, Edwin of, Aelfaeda of, Edflaed of, Edhilda of, Aelgifu of, Aethelflaeda of and Eadgyth (Edith) of. She had five half-brothers and three half-sisters, named Aethelstan of, Alfred of, Edmund I Deed Doer the Elder of, Gregory of, Eadred of, Edith of, Edburga of and Edgifu of.


Edgifu of's first family with Charles III The Simple of France

‌Edgifu of and Charles III The Simple of were married in a religious ceremony in 0919.  They had a son named Louis IV d'Outremere of.


Edgifu of's second family with Herbert the Elder de Vermandois of Meaux

‌Edgifu of and Herbert the Elder de Vermandois of were married in a religious ceremony in 0951 in St. Quentin, France.  They had a son and a daughter, named Stephen I of and Agnes de Vermandois of.
