Thomas was born in 1859. Thomas' father was J. T. Poe and his mother was Celia Anders. His maternal grandparents were Thomas Anders and Sarah Richardson. He had five brothers and three sisters, named James Everett, Floyd, Friel, Osborn, Elbert, Sarah, Betty and Jency. He is the oldest of the nine children.-
