James Cheek 
James was born in 1846 in Ashe Co., NC. James' father is Meridith Cheek and his mother was Sarah "Sally" Andrews. His paternal grandparents are Richard Cheek and Mrs. Frankie Cheek; his maternal grandfather was James Andrews and his maternal grandmother is Elizabeth Crouse. He had four brothers and three sisters, named Henderson, Isom, Burras, Joseph, Matilda, Rosa and Pheobe Jane. He is the oldest of the eight children.-
