John was born in 1829 in Ashe Co., NC'. John's father was James Andrews and his mother is Elizabeth Crouse. His paternal grandfather was John Andrews and his paternal grandmother is Mary Mc Craken; his maternal grandparents are Jacob Crouse and Sally Edwards. He had four brothers and five sisters, named Henry, Burris, James, Martin, Sarah "Sally", Candace, Polly, Matilda and Abiah. He was the second oldest of the ten children. He died at the age of 70 in 1899 in VA.-
